Linda Hammer

2022-04-19T20:28:32+00:00

Linda Hammer’s art, mostly done in acrylic on canvas, consists of florals (from her recent visit to France and Monet’s home in Giverny), Buck’s County landscapes, and several seascapes. As a member of Artworks Collective in Ambler, she was asked to display her 17 pieces in the Abyss Coffee Co., from March 12th through April 23rd, mainly because of her use of color.  Prior to this, she displayed at Launch or Land in November with several artists in the collective. She has participated for two years in the Ambler Arts Festival.  Recently, she has begun working in oils.  Linda continues to learn from her teachers and the Cheltenham Center for the Arts which she has attended for the past several years.

Dar James

2022-04-19T20:26:00+00:00

Dar James is a painter who paints brightly colored, joyful and ethereal acrylic works on canvas. The backgrounds are meticulously built up, over the course of days, with many, many layers of transparent drips, each layer drying between the next, creating depth and lending a beautiful effect to the image that often resembles hand-painted fabrics or batik.

MY TREES ARE UNIVERSAL SYMBOLS THAT CONJURE METAPHORS OF LIFE,FAMILY, COMMUNITY & LOVE.

Dar uses two techniques to create these trees… one that builds up the branches and leaves in many layers and another that uses negative space, creating a “window” to what is essentially a painting within a painting. The final layer is a vast array of dot-work done with a dip-nib pen and acrylic ink which quite literally lights them up. In a commitment to design aesthetic, Dar extends the motifs of each work onto all four sides of the gallery wrapped canvases.
